All Over It - The Roadie

I’ve curated a bunch of products that I think are pretty special, and that I know each of my characters would love to be in the company of.

If they went shopping, this is what I’d like to think they’d buy for themselves.  Some of these products are handmade by small-scale businesses like myself, and others are much bigger & operate ethically with a focus on quality over quantity.

With summer finally showing us it still exists in the UK, It feels like there is no better time to talk about our mate The Roadie, who is sure to be checking out as many summer festivals as he can fit into his diary.

We've got a Plan Toys shape sorter and not only is it such lovely quality (proper dovetail joins, solid timber, basically unbreakable - my boys have put it to the test!) but they're made from recycled rubber wood that would otherwise be burned. One of my favorite shops is a family run business in Wales called Babi Pur. They only stock brands like Plan Toys, that are ethically made from natural and sustainable materials, produced with fair trade practices and that are free from harmful chemicals. It's great to find a business where you can buy so many household items and be entirely confident in the ethical credentials of your purchases.

Om Baby was the first brand of children's clothing label "cut for cloth" that I came across and instantly fell in love with. Alice has a brilliant eye for colour and takes great care in sourcing the perfect fabrics, all hand printed using traditional wood block techniques by Indian artisans. Her styles are adorable and perfect for adding fun and ease into your child's wardrobe. She also uses her offcuts to applique one-off tees, which are playful and so special. Can you tell I'm a massive fan?!

One thing I do miss since having children is not going out and dancing for hours in a dark, energetic space to amazing DJ's, I was so happy to be introduced to Big Fish Little Fish. who put together fantastic family friendly raves in the UK and now in Australia too. I could dance with my fave big and little people, witness great DJ's and emerge from that dark space into daylight feeling reinvigorated rather than dusty, with plenty of time left in the afternoon for dinner, bath story and bed, perfection!

David Bowie is another of the big muses of Over All 1516, his heavily embellished Kansai Yamamoto bodysuit with the wide, eqaggerated legs reminds me of my own signature wide leg silhouette. I'm also a huge fan of all the work Georgia Perry does; colourful, playful and always unique, are the brilliant qualities that come to mind when I think of her and her brand. Her separate store KIOSK is all kinds of fun and it my go-to for skillfully curated and artistic gifts from around the world.
